Junior Achievement of Wisconsin Shines the Spotlight on Local Volunteer, Nick Purkapile
JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN - As the 2021-22 school year comes to a close, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin (JA) would like to spotlight a local volunteer.
Nick Purkapile has been a Junior Achievement volunteer in Janesville, Wisconsin, since 2010. For the last 8 years, he has taught third graders at Roosevelt Elementary School about money. The program, called JA Our City®, helps students learn about the choices people make with their money and helps them understand the importance of money to a city and its citizens.
“I’ve been in the banking industry for 20 years. I understand how important it is to teach young people how to make smart choices with their money,” said Mr. Purkapile. “It’s so gratifying when I see a student after our JA program is finished and they remember me and what I taught them.”
Mr. Purkapile began his career in banking as a teller in high school and worked his way up to management positions in Janesville banks. He currently works for Finastra, a banking software company that helps transition banks to new programs that make bank processes more effective.
