Brillion Teen Wins Young Entrepreneur Award Junior Achievement Event Showcases Northeast Wisconsin Teen Business Owners
APPLETON, WISCONSIN - Kaylee Lamers , a 16-year-old sophomore at Brillion High School was named Northeast Wisconsin Young Entrepreneur of the Year and was awarded $3,000 in prize money at the Junior Achievement Young Entrepreneur competition held in Appleton on January 22, 2024. Kaylee’s business, Stitches and Sweets, sells hand-made one-of-a-kind sewn items. The win secured Kaylee’s place to compete for $10,000 at the Junior Achievement Young Entrepreneur statewide competition that will be shown online on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.
Three other applicants joined Kaylee to pitch their businesses to a panel of local celebrity judges. Other competitors included Macie Hall from Neenah High School, owner of Sweet Tooth, a cake decorating company; Harrison Lauer from Neenah High School, owner of YourCo.Store, a web platform that sells branded clothing and sets up custom websites; and Grace Fuss from West De Pere High School, owner of Fighting Cancer with Grace, a business that sells candles, homemade wooden decorations, and glassware to fund care packages for cancer patients.
“The entrepreneurial skillset of these students is amazing. They are hardworking, innovative, and creative,” said Adam Suter, Regional Director of Junior Achievement in Northeast Wisconsin. “We are excited to help mentor and encourage those skills through this Young Entrepreneur event. Hopefully, people will not only support their efforts but be inspired by them as well.”
